The art of storytelling is not dead

Kerby's Nursery and The Kerby's Houseplant Shop
Gardening is and always will be a passion of mine — at at young age I helped my mom plant Impatiens in terracotta pots, my first job in high school was at a local plant nursery, and I continued to grow flowers and veggies throughout college and into adulthood.

So when my husband and I moved to Florida for a short period of time, I knew I had an opportunity to combine my love for gardening and journalism.

I worked at Kerby's Nursery as the social media manager for four years where I oversaw all five social media accounts and two online shops. I created original videos, captured vibrant photos, collaborated with local businesses for giveaways and events, created digital training material, designed and distributed promotional emails, and more.
It was such a memorable and educational experience that expanded my skillset tenfold and taught me that real change can occur when you're passionate, open-minded, and driven.

Letter of Recommendation
by Owner Joey Bokor
"From her first day on the job with our company, Lydia impressed us with her flexibility, willingness to learn new things, and her independence. She began working with us in the fall of 2020 as a sales associate. We quickly realized that we were not using her talents and so from 2020 through 2022, Lydia managed almost all aspects of our online houseplant shop: taking quality photographs of plants, managing inventory, producing content for Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, and even assisting in the packaging of plants for shipment. She was quick to learn new tasks, and always suggested positive improvements to the things we were already doing.

In everything that we asked her to do, she excelled at operating independently and always exceeded our expectations in meeting goals and accomplishing tasks. In 2022, she took over full time as our social media manager, grew our following and created content for our social media feeds that generated positive feedback from many sources. She was able to capture the values of our company through photos and fun video tutorials that our customers loved.

Lydia was one of our super-star employees and her shoes will be hard to fill for us. She is a quick learner, willing to adapt to new challenges, and willing to make suggestions to make things work better. I highly recommend her for the position she is seeking and know that she will be an asset to your company."
